Uniting Vic.Tas is the community services organisation of the Uniting Church, delivering services and programs for individuals, families and communities across Victoria and Tasmania.

Uniting Voices: Crafting Inclusive Connections Across Victoria & Tasmania

Following the merger of 24 agencies into one, Uniting Vic.Tas was left with a number of social media profiles that required ongoing upkeep. These profiles targeted particular regions across Victoria and Tasmania.

To ensure the marginalised and vulnerable people within those communities felt heard and were able to receive the information they needed, a comprehensive social media plan and guideline set was required. Uniting Vic.Tas wanted to ensure each community and region was represented, informed and had an inclusive, online space where they felt valued and connected.

With more than 30 social media profiles owned by Uniting Vic.Tas following the merger, a review of each profile needed to be done to determine whether it would still be viable to manage. Aston Digital developed a decision tree as the first step of an in-depth Social Media Strategy to help guide this decision making process.

Next was to create a blueprint for the types of content that would be shared across these multiple channels. Aston Digital created a series of content pillars - with examples - to help the Uniting Vic.Tas team draw content ideas from for each channel. This included a content release schedule to help guide the content for each week.

As the services Uniting Vic.Tas offers can sometimes be of a serious nature, Community Management rules were also developed to help the Uniting Vic.Tas team deal with particular types of comments and messages.
