#HockeyIs: A Campaign to Share the Passion and Grow the Game

The clear objective of this campaign was to reach out to all existing members as well as potential new members using a recurring and recognisable style of content across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It needed to be dynamic enough to engage current members while also appealing to a broader audience, creating a larger target group.

The strategy centred on evoking emotion, not just among hockey players but also parents, prospective players and officials. We invited them to share what hockey means to them using the hashtag #HockeyIs. The campaign kicked off with organic content encouraging people to share their stories, alongside a link to the membership sign-up page. To further engage the community, we built a live feed on the Hockey Victoria website to showcase all the responses.

#HockeyIs Drives Likes and Membership to New Heights

At the end of the campaign period Hockey Victoria’s Facebook Page Likes had jumped 20% to over 5,000 in total. Furthermore, Hockey Victoria’s total membership numbers were up by 4,000 sign ups compared to the previous year.

The campaign aimed to engage both current and potential members through dynamic, recognisable content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, using the hashtag #HockeyIs to evoke emotional responses.

It successfully increased Hockey Victoria’s Facebook Page Likes by 20% and boosted total membership by 4,000 sign-ups compared to the previous year.
